I created this project with my teammates Mike Edward and Hsinping Dai. We did our research on a small deli of a subway station in NYC for one week. We found that there was no interactions between people sitting in the darker area and those in the lighter area. So we decided to design an object to improve the non-verbal interaction between them. After several iterations with user testings and modifications, the final version of our design was a wireless lamp.
The lamp was controlled by a wireless switch, and they were put on tables in the darker area and ligher area respectively. There was a piece of telegraph code on the switch box, so people sitting on this table could tap the switch and send messages to the strangers sitting on the table with the lamp. eventurally, the project was tested successfully in a bar.
