- Concept
Mobile zen garden is a mobile standby screen. It is designed to synchronize user's pace with the tranquil natural rhythms. The goal is to bring a moment of mental relaxation to viewers anytime and anywhere. - How it works
I created a small poetic natural garden with images of leaves and a pond using Adobe FlashLite 2.0. The number of ripples, generated by a stone skipping across the surface of the pond (mobile phone screen), represents the current power level of the mobile phone. When there are five ripples appearing on the surface of the pond, it means the phone is fully charged. When the power goes down, there are less and less ripples. When the battery is low, there is only one ripple on the screen and it turns to red to warn users that this phone needs to be charged as soon as possible. The number of leaves on the tree represents the strength of signals the phone gets. The less the leaves there are, the less signals the phone are receiving. When the signal is becoming stronger, leaves start growing on the tree. Therefore, users can examine the numbers of leaves on the tree to get a sense about how strong the signal the phone is currently receiveing. - Technical specifications
